Snow and sunshine
Mar. 24th, 2020 06:46 pmSpent this weekend with Z - he and his roommate are both self-isolating as well, so I don't think it was too irresponsible. It was nice to see him and make breakfast together again with Bob Ross on in the background.
We got snow yesterday - probably our last for the season, but after a warm winter it was nice to see. So pretty on all the trees. I went for a walk in the park this morning before it all started to melt. Judging by the pictures they send me, my parents are enjoying long walks in sunnier weather with nobody else around them in the pretty nature.
The local tea place just started doing food deliveries today. I ordered a crepe while I was doing work and while it wasn't as good as it is fresh in the restaurant, it was still very good. Well worth the generous tip and I will forgive them for the usual tea shop pseudoscience nonsense on their website. (That's not how anti-oxidants work, guys.)
One of the things I ordered when I realized I wasn't going to be leaving the house much for the next... while was a vacuum cleaner. My old one is really old and cheap and it made me hate vacuuming even more than my baseline of 'can I do literally any other chore'; it's hard to maneuver, not the best at cleaning, and if I didn't spend like an hour scraping my hair out of the carpet beforehand, it was choke halfway through my living room.
This new one has that fancy hair-cutting feature, but the first time I used it on my living room - brush covered in hair. I hate cutting it off :( but at least it was easier to get off than with the old one. Today, though, I tried again and I think I figured out how to get it to work - by the end of vacuuming my whole apartment there was only a little wrapped around the brush. I could cry. Plus this machine is just so much easier to use and I now have noise-blocking earmuffs, which are more comfortable than earplugs. It's not a fun chore, still, but it's not absolutely terrible any more? I am a little amazed. (I really, really hated vacuuming, okay.)
I did that and some other cleaning right after working out, so now my shoulder hurts, but I am also enjoying the caramel apple scone I also ordered from the local tea shop, so things are good on balance :)
