Fic in a box 2025 letter
Aug. 26th, 2025 07:58 pmHi, creator! Thanks for making something for me - I'm sure I'll enjoy it!
General likes: Outsider POV; Canon divergence AUs; Slice of life; Spirits, gods, and ghosts; Character exploration, introspection, and backgrounds; Traditional or historical clothing; Clothing kink of most kinds including crossdressing (exception: lingerie on anyone); Playing with gender/expression/gendered expectations; Intense friendships, complicated relationships, and sexual tension; Sharing beds or baths (platonic or otherwise); Floriography; Hanahaki disease (more on the beautiful body horror, less on the 'removal means never loving again' aspects); Sex pollen; Language barriers and cultural differences; Showing care without using words; Food or coffee/tea as affection; Playing with/doing up/brushing/washing hair, particularly long hair; Napes, necks, hands, wrists; Wingfic or wingart of any kind; Time travel/time loops; 4 + 1 or 5 times or similar formats; Experimental use of format; Characters other than MC/main relationship(s) appearing/getting mentioned
For art: I like a lot of things for art, but if it's a colored piece, I'm often weak to splashes of bright color or gold, soft coloring, or vivid colors. If you're up for it, I especially enjoy anime/cartoonish styles, including chibis, ink painting, art nouveau, pixel art, and woodblock print styles. I always like magical effects or elements and flowers (crowns, symbolic, presents, hanahaki, etc)
DNWs: Omegaverse, unrequested setting/career change AUs, pregnancy, noncanon death of canon characters (canonical deaths or presumed deaths are fine to include), infidelity, rimming, daddy/mommy kink, confirmed unrequited pining, humiliation, repeated use of noncanon epithets (e.g. 'the blonde', 'the girl') between characters who know and use each other's names (occasional use to emphasize something, etc, is fine)
For art: large changes to canon skin tone, body type, or height
For fanvids: lyric typography, dialogue from the source used in audio (sound effects are okay)
Additional DNW for Morrowind: Almalexia and Nerevar's marriage being a completely loveless political marriage if it comes up
I'm fine with any tense, POV, or rating, on-screen underage as long as the characters are at least 16, and canon-typical violence. I've written some prompts for the various relationships and opt-ins I've requested, but if you have another idea you think I would like, go for it :)
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
I am fine with the canon character deaths appearing or being focused on. For the Nerevarine, I am down with any gender/race of Nerevarine, but if you want direction, Altmers are my favorites. Feel free to go off the rails of the in-game quests.
Things I especially like in this fandom: Morrowind is a fandom that really suits poetic or experimental writing - Vivec's sermons are a little too far on the surreal side for me, but please feel free to experiment if you like. I also like works that either expand on things that were limited by it being a game (e.g. there's one Ashlander who has trouble talking to you, but otherwise language is no barrier) or leaning into weirdness that comes from it being a game.
Relationships:
Almalexia & Voryn Dagoth & Indoril Nerevar & Sotha Sil & Vivec
Things that happened during the war against the Nords, the happier days before Red Mountain and maybe adventures therein, how Nerevar initially connected with everyone, cracks that were already there or developing before everything fell apart under the mountain (and what's everyone's version(s) of what happened under the mountain, since we only get a few?), or what happened around Nerevar's death and its aftermath, like how the Tribunal dealt and didn't deal with it. I'd also be happy with an interpretation of any of their relationships as a (nice or messy, lighter or darker) poly situation.
Voryn Dagoth/Indoril Nerevar
Was there a particular reason that Nerevar earned Voyrn's loyalty besides uniting Resdayn? Was Nerevar "just" a caravan guard when they met (and perhaps became lovers?), already another House's hortator, or something else? What were those things Voryn says he did 'at your command, at great cost to myself, and my honor'? Were they lovers that never quite could be, lovers even before Nerevar got hitched, lovers despite his marriage, lovers in a poly situation, something else? Sorcery also has great potential ranging from 'intentional romantic/sex magic' to 'whoops, turned out this weird enchanted artifact I brought you to ask about is a magical sex pollen bomb'.
Dagoth Ur/Nerevarine
A Nerevarine who is lonely in a strange land that hates strangers and decides to take up Dagoth's Ur offer out of desperation. A Nerevarine who has no combat skills but maxed personality and speechcraft. A Nerevarine who thinks but I can fix him even after all the dreams and the corprus and whatnot. Some other things I think could be interesting for this ship are body horror with the flesh-warping aspects of Dagoth Ur/corprus, the potential for identity issues when you're supposedly a reincarnation and your lover keeps calling you by another name, or other ways those dreams could go.
Solo: Failed Incarnates (Morrowind)
The scene where you meet the failed incarnates and receive gifts from them was touching. We don't get a lot of detail on what their lives were like, but it would be interesting to see them expanded on. For example, what was it that made Ane Teria believe in the Nerevarine prophecies after a lifetime as a true believer in the Tribunal? What did Hort Ledd think about instead of doing, and how much did he know of his star-marked fate?
Nerevarine & Any NPC
Solo: Nerevarine
I'm always interested in something about being the Nerevarine as identity, especially if they are or become a true reincarnation of him. Are they psyched to be told they're special after having been an orphan and prisoner? Concerned that they're not like the stories of Nerevar at all? Freaked out by visions/dreams where they look like him and not themselves or warily watching for any signs that the corprus is changing their form? Try to fuck off from the main quest entirely? Or maybe they're scared and lonely in this new land... making them a perfect target for a cult.
Or anything with the Nerevarine running around giant bug and mushroom land, exploring and enjoying life out of prison, finding some of the weird Easter Eggs, forgetting about the main quest or inventing new ways to solve the problems of Vvardenfell, seeing seasonal changes the game didn't have, accidentally exploiting the game systems, chomping down on ridiculous things b/c alchemy, learning about Vvardenfell's customs, confusing people by becoming the head of two or more conflicting factions, etc. Would also love interactions with any NPCs of your choice (interfering in the Ajira & Galbedir rivalry or merrily joining in? Letting all those Dwemer researchers know that Yagrum Bagarn is alive? Helping out at the Ald'Ruhn school, and either earnestly sharing the Imperial propaganda or eyerolling at it with the students?)
Opt-ins:
Medium Opt-In: Art - In-Universe Propaganda Poster
The first thing this brought to mind was a Temple anti-Nerevarine poster that might pop up once you hit that point in the main quest, but I could also see some pro-Imperial propaganda posters (the savior of your people, brought to your country by the Emperor! want to be cool like this ancient war hero reborn, join the Imperial Fighters Guild!), or Sixth House posters.
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Academic Publication
I love how the game gives us a bunch of contradictory stories/research about the pre-Tribunal times, and I'd love someone else taking a crack at it. Or a researcher's view of the prophecies/any events in the game, or archaeological excavations of places like Velothi towers or Dwemer ruins.
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Excerpts from a Character's Journal/Notebook
Medium Opt-In: Illustrated Text (Art & Writing) - In-Universe Journal/Notebook/Sketchbook Page
Some of the Nerevarine's diary entries get snarky. Could be fun to see an adventure through them. First era characters might have had some interesting diary notes while they were dealing with their transformation into gods, wrestling with the choice to use the tools, before/after the apotheosis, or in the waning years of their power.
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe RPF
Someone writing historical fiction about the first-era characters (maybe something heretical enough to get a ban by the Temple?). The Unofficial Adventures of the Nerevarine. The Highly Profane Actions of the So-Called "Incarnate". Crassius Curio's take on Nerevar's "charisma". Sixth House cult members doodling out fic slash visions about their lord and the Nerevarine. Someone's take on what happened to the Nerevarine after the game instead of vanishing off to Akavir.
Medium Opt-In: Art - Fanart Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic
My fic in this fandom can be found here - I'd be super happy to see art of any of it :)
Onmyouji
Relationships:
I always love anything with period details or that evokes the feeling of the period, both in court and out of it. I also love all kinds of spirits and ghosts, especially tsukumogami, and any use of magic.
General prompts:
Any kind of spooky happenings and/or spooky locations, whether the spirits are the ones up to trouble or the real demons are the ones in human hearts. Hiromasa is the one to save the day - perhaps Seimei has managed to get himself incapacitated or in trouble despite all of his magical knowledge, or perhaps knowing music (or the latest court gossip) is the key to smoothing everything over. Hiromasa gets targeted by a rival magician of Seimei's and needs help or rescue. Sometimes all you really need is a butterfly spirit (who happily bops sumo wrestlers on the head and likes flowers). Maybe someone else has realized her true nature and invented the butterfly net?
Hiromasa comes across an interesting object and whoops it was haunted/magic. Inheriting Lady Aone's spirit had unexpected side effects; maybe Hiromasa simply gets an expanded lifespan like hers, or maybe it's something more interesting/scary than that. Something in Seimei's past (or Hiromasa's?) comes back to haunt them, perhaps literally. Foxes have different expectations of courting than Heian noble norms. Someone is targeting ladies; one or both crossdresses to attract their attention instead.
I also love any forms of in-universe writing - later scholars trying to make sense of what they got up to based on various diaries and stories and fanfiction, gossipy RPF about them from around the court (did you hear that Minamoto no Hiromasa saw Abe no Seimei without his hat?!), a diary that one of them keeps, paperwork that needs to get done after you save the capital from ruin, or long after the Heian period, scholars try to make sense of the records of their adventures.
Opt-ins:
Medium Opt-In: Any - Any Nominated In-Universe Medium That Fit the Canon Setting
Medium Opt-In: Writing - Any In-Universe Documents That Fit the Canon Setting
Medium Opt-In: Illustrated Text (Art & Writing) - In-Universe Bureaucratic Paperwork
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Bureaucratic Paperwork
Medium Opt-In: Illustrated Text (Art & Writing) - In-Universe Academic Publication
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Academic Publication
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Personal Documents
What kind of paperwork does the Bureau of Divination demand from Seimei? Was there any paperwork to be done after the events of either movie, or any of their other adventures? Does either of them keep a pillow book or other personal notes? Or perhaps someone who needs their help or observes them at court writes about them. What do later academics make of the legends of Seimei and Hiromasa, or what conclusions do they draw from records of the movies' events? Do contemporary onmyouji have anything to say about Seimei's methods?
Medium Opt-In: Art - In-Universe RPF
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe RPF
Someone whiles away the long hours of nothing to do by imagining more adventures for the duo that saved the capital - or perhaps imagines a more domestic and romantic adventure for them. (Bonus points for a Heian-style shocking reveal of someone seeing something they shouldn't - maybe one of them sees the other without his hat?!) How close or far is it from their actual personalities and abilities?
Medium Opt-In: Art - Fanart
Medium Opt-In: Art - Fanart Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic
I'd love any kind of fanart for this fandom :D You can find my Onmyouji fic here if you'd like to use that as inspiration, but I'd also love to see anything inspired by my general likes or the above prompts.
Medium Opt-In: Video - Fanvid
Atmospheric horror would work well for this canon, although I wouldn't say no to a romance fanvid or even comedy with intentionally jarring music, either. I think setting one to older traditional music would be fun, or something that's a mix of influences like Yoshida Brothers, but feel free to use modern music from anywhere as well.
Morose Mononokean
I'm fine with using any pronouns for Aoi (or changing pronouns depending on the form shapeshifted into). For the relationships involving him, I would love to see anything that explores Itsuki's strange between-worlds position. In general, I would also enjoy worldbuilding about the youkai vs human world, the history of youkai and human interaction, youkai curses/diseases, etc, or just more canon-style adventures or art!
Relationships:
Abeno Haruitsuki/Ashiya Hanae
Would they continue their slow trust build until they fall in love, or would love come on more suddenly? With them being raised in such different ways, would they have different ideas about romance? What is their relationship and how they live going to look like when they're older? The Mononokean designs their wedding. They have to mediate a client's romantic relationship, and it makes them thing more about their own relationship. Magical effects from a client force them to spend a lot of time together/give them sex pollen/etc.
Abeno Haruitsuki/The Executive
How might their dynamic change post-canon with Itsuki finishing growing up, Aoi back in at least some form, and Hanae mostly out of the picture for the moment? Without Hanae around, Itsuki ends up overworking himself, and the workaholic Executive spots it. Itsuki has nightmares that lead to him becoming exhausted, and the Executive feels forced to intercede. Itsuki gets a request related to China/from a Chinese spirit, and he needs the Executive's help. Concerned rumors started to spread that the Mononokean's new master is a human, and what better way to prove it wrong than by spreading the news that the human-hating Executive is in a relationship with him?
Aoi & Abeno Haruitsuki
What exactly was the incident that led to Aoi taking him on? Itsuki's parents are alive and well, according to the official fanbook, so did Aoi pretend to be a distant relative or kind neighbor or something to cover up for taking him to the Underworld all the time, or what? How is their relationship going to be different once Aoi returns to their normal self and (maybe?) relieves the Princess, and what does Aoi think of everything Itsuki did to bring them back? Would also be down for any kind of pre-canon adventure or few with the two of them with bb!Itsuki learning the ropes of how to deal with clients at every stage of a request.
Ashiya Nara & Ashiya Hanae
The fanbook says that Hanae did tell his family about what happened with Sakae. Did Nara have any inklings that something was happening before that? How did Hanae break the news to her? What's her reaction to this revelation, and how does she feel about Hanae being involved in this new world going forward? How does it make her look back on her time with Sakae? Were there hints Hanae could see youkai before he met Fuzzy or any strange parallels that she saw with Sakae's behavior? Maybe her floral knowledge is helpful for a client? Symbolic gardening together.
WB: Any
WB: Underworld history
WB: Youkai-human relations
What is the history of the mundane world and the Underworld? Was the Underworld a deliberately planned endeavor or something that began more spontaneously and became more organized over time? What varieties of relationships might youkai have with humans in this world (fear, the recent youkai boom, onmyouji, families making deals with kitsune, marriage, etc)?
Opt-ins
Medium Opt-In: Art - In-Universe Advertisement
Medium Opt-In: Illustrated Text (Art & Writing) - In-Universe Advertisement
I'd love to see more of the Mononokean's design work - is it advertising a new employee opening, the Ashiya flower shop, a wedding? Does the Mononokean have any ads going up besides the one we see for a new employee, and if so, do they look different, or are they also covered in adorable little ghosts?
Medium Opt-In: Any - Any Nominated In-Universe Medium That Fit the Canon Setting
Medium Opt-In: Writing - Any In-Universe Documents That Fit the Canon Setting
Medium Opt-In: Illustrated Text (Art & Writing) - In-Universe Bureaucratic Paperwork
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Bureaucratic Paperwork
Medium Opt-In: Illustrated Text (Art & Writing) - In-Universe Journal/Notebook/Sketchbook Page
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Excerpts from a Character's Journal/Notebook
Medium Opt-In: Illustrated Text (Art & Writing) - In-Universe Academic Publication
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Academic Publication
Medium Opt-In: Writing - In-Universe Personal Documents
We get to see a glimpse of Aoi's reports of the Mononokean's activity - what would more of that look like? How about Itsuki's reports? Maybe Hanae starts to write them eventually? What are the youkai academics writing about their history or the humans - or are any human academics hitting upon real youkai history? Journal entries about Itsuki's training days. We see Itsuki take on at least one human client... does he have online reviews? Or people who may or may not have real youkai problems chatting about him on message boards? Aoi seems to have been around for a while, and they also seem to like humans, so maybe there are some stories hanging around about them?

I'd love to see more of the Mononokean's design work - is it advertising a new employee opening, the Ashiya flower shop, a wedding? Does the Mononokean have any ads going up besides the one we see for a new employee, and if so, do they look different, or are they also covered in adorable little ghosts?

I'd love any kind of fanart for this fandom :D You can find my Mononokean fic here if you'd like to use that as inspiration, but I'd also love to see anything inspired by my general likes or the above prompts.
